The Explicit Gospel came about after Chandler realized some who have been raised in the church, raised to believe in Christ, had never heard the gospel, explicitly. Here is how he organizes his thoughts.
From “The Gospel on the Ground”
A close personal look at Who God is and how exactly He and His Son saved mankind. Chandler spells out what our response should be.
This means, for instance, that nobody can really attend church as though it is a hobby. The moralism that passes for Christian faith today is a devastating hobby if you have no intention of committing your life fully to God and chasing Him in Christ.
From “The Gospel in the Air”
This is a section filled with deep discussions on evolution and creation concerning the fall and reconciliation. Some of the information here was new to me, all of it was challenging and highly intelligent. I love this kind of mental exercise. It occurs to me that this high level material comes from a brain ravished by cancer. (he discusses his cancer in this section) It is quite obvious to me that the enemy was very vested in destroying Matt’s ability to think and reason. Praise God that his mind has been spared because he definitely has something to say worth hearing.
From “Implications and Applications”
One of the many tidbits that I found very interesting was pointed out by Chandler in the last section.
Over and over he (Paul) proclaims the gospel to those who already know the gospelWhy does he do that? He tells us the answer in 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 'Now I would remind you brothers, of the gospel I have preached to you, which you have received (past tense), in which you stand (present tense), and by which you are being saved (future tense).' So the gospel not only saves us but, it sustains us.
Here is Matt discussing discussing The Explicit Gospel.
